Tonya's Garden

This is a box I painted during a seminar I attended one weekend. It is called Tonya's Garden because she is the one who planned the seminar, but never saw it come to be. She passed away from cancer a few months before.

It is a Zhostovo style painting and we were so lucky to have a Master Zhostovo painter come teach us from Russia, Slava Letkov. He came with his sponser Tricia Joiner to teach us this technique. He spoke very little (practically none) English, but we had a great rapport right from the start. I own one of his original pieces and before he left, he gave me his favorite paintbrush. It was quite an experience.

This is a box that is painted on the sides as well and sits on a stand which is also painted. It is painted in acrylics with washes of color...all Zhostovo technique.
